It should be no surprise to you or anyone else who designs for a living that you don’t actually create EVERY piece of art that you utilize in your designs. Whether it be stock photography, illustration or vector graphics you either have an account with Shutterstock or another stock site or your business does. Either way getting free content works for the best of two worlds. One: you get FREE STUFF! and really who’s gonna say no (unless it looks like “free stuff”) and two: you get exposed to sites that will have more premium content that at a relatively low cost will get you a good amount of content that you can implement into your work seamlessly. If you’re so astute you can work it into your freelance, therefore, paying for the premium content with client dollars in which you can reuse as long as your client agrees that they do not own the purchased content, you do.
