I’ve been on YouTube for months watching tutorials that lead me from one nerd to the next about how to do this or that in Photoshop or Photoshop-like programs. So, just to switch things up, I decided to try Code Academy. My wife is a skilled developer and got her start by doing a couple of courses on this platform. There is a wide variety of languages that you can get introduced to and learn the basics to such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python, etc…
My favorite part about Code Academy is that it gives you real time coding content as well as teaches by doing. There are so many time’s I’ve picked up a book on how to code a website and either the content was nonexistent or the lessons were so long and drawn out with little explanation if you were stuck. I’ve tried multiple times to learn how to code a website and this is the first time that I’ve ever had actual fun learning this content. Code Academy truly has their product down to the point where I’m strongly considering paying the $20/mo to get the extended content.
All in all, I really enjoyed searching for the content I wanted to learn on YouTube, however, Code Academy expands upon a traditional educational platform with all of the most current technological advances to improve upon such systems. Code Academy is much more structured and has hours of content that you can access completely for free! I’ve honestly gotten so lost that hours have gone by and I have to check the time because I’m so ingrained into the curriculum that I need to stop and do other things that I have planned. So check it out at codeacademy.com if you’re interested in coding and I hope you have as much fun as I am with it!
